Leading retail and high value logistics provider, Clipper 玩嘉电竞 Group has donated £10,000 to international development transport charity Transaid. Having been involved with Transaid for many years, Clipper’s people have experienced, first hand, the vitally important work that the charity champions across sub-Saharan Africa.
Transaid builds local transport skills and knowledge to make transport systems more affordable, available and efficient. Working with local partners, its two major goals are to improve access to essential services such as healthcare, and opportunities to make a living. The ten-year-old charity also works on cross-cutting themes including HIV & AIDS and road safety awareness, to combat some of the negative impacts of transport.
Clipper 玩嘉电竞 Group’s involvement with Transaid spans several years and northern transport manager, Charlie Anderson, has been seconded on several occasions to help develop sustainable transport solutions for Africa. Charlie has worked on a number of key assignments for Transaid, including a review of the British Government’s own fleet management systems in Bangladesh, establishing a Women’s Transport Co-operative in Ghana, and conducting a national transport assessment for the Ministry of Health in Zambia. The donation of £10,000 demonstrates Clipper’s ongoing commitment to the charity and recognition of the integral role of transport and logistics to improve lives and livelihoods in the developing world.
Chris Saunders, CEO, Transaid commented: “We’re thrilled to receive such a generous donation from Clipper 玩嘉电竞 Group. The money will help us to continue our work advocating transport industry best practice across sub-Saharan Africa, and implementing transport management systems that truly make a difference to people’s lives.”
Tony Mannix, managing director, Clipper 玩嘉电竞 Group, explained: “In Europe, we rather take efficient transport links for granted. In Africa, unreliable transport systems are expensive, time-consuming and unsafe – they can even prevent people earning enough money to feed their family, or make the difference between life and death.”
He concluded: “No matter where you are in the world, planning, management and operation of transport systems affects mobility, livelihoods, employment opportunities and commercial activities. By sharing specialist knowledge and best practice, we can help people to realise the power of effective and efficient transport management.”
