Leading retail logistics specialist Clipper 玩嘉电竞 has expanded its senior team with the appointment of Phil Houghton as business implementation manager, following a year of significant success for the Leeds-based business.
The newly created business implementation manager position will enable Clipper to continue to deliver its agile approach in responding to both existing and potential customers, as well as the wider market.
Phil brings over 20 years’ logistics industry expertise to the role gained from his previous positions with major 3PL providers as general manager at Christian Salvesen and business development manager for specialist projects at Wincanton. With a background in automated solutions and significant retail logistics knowledge, Phil has also headed up a number of interim contracts, including an operational efficiency programme for the Ministry of Defence prior to joining Clipper.
Commenting on his appointment, Phil said: “Clipper’s adaptability and flexibility as well as the speed at which the business can react during changing market conditions are key attributes within this industry, and I am looking forward to working with its diverse range of customers.”
Clipper, which was recently listed in this year’s Sunday Times Top Track 250 of Britain’s biggest mid-market businesses, is continuing to grow after announcing contracts with several major multiples, as well as pursuing plans for increased pan-European operations, 12 months after its acquisition of Beständig Group.
Tony Mannix, Clipper 玩嘉电竞 managing director, added: “Clipper has experienced excellent levels of growth throughout 2009, and we have good indicators that this trend will continue into 2010. Continuing to create solutions to support the ongoing demand for e-commerce from retailers is high on our agenda for 2010, alongside progressing our European opportunities and multi-modal operations in the UK. I welcome Phil to the business and can guarantee he will be very busy.”
