Charlie Anderson, Transport Manager for Clipper 玩嘉电竞 , visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to conduct a fleet and transport management review for the British Embassy in Kinshasa, with an aim of improving their operations and supply chain management.
During her week-long secondment, Charlie observed the current transport management systems of the Department for International Development (DFID) and the British High Commission and made recommendations on how procedures and resources could be shared to improve operational efficiency.
Charlie gave support to several transport managers to help them streamline operational tasks and procedures in order to collate information required to analyse keep performance indicators. This included the implementation of log books so that transport schedules and vehicle utilisation could be planned and monitored more effectively.
The role of the British High Commission and DFID in the DRC is focused on reducing poverty and sustaining peace in a region that has been heavily burdened by war and violence. Transaid’s work will help to improve the British government’s transport operations in the region to continue to deliver effective aid.
We anticipate that Charlie will be returning to Kinshasa in the autumn to deliver further transport management training and to follow up the recommendations made.
