Clipper, the UK’s leading fashion and high value logistics provider, is delighted to have been named winner of the Green Supply Chain Initiative of The Year Award at the prestigious Retail Week Supply Chain Awards.
The much anticipated awards event took place in the spectacular ballroom of the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Wednesday 12th September 2012.
Clipper’s entry overcame competing submissions from Marks and Spencer, Nisa and DHL. The judges felt that the Clipper Regent Street Consolidation project was the category leader as it dealt with a number of logistics and environmental challenges and pulled together multiple retail customers.
The operation, which includes deliveries to a number of Regent Street stores, including Ferrari, Ollie & Nic, H&M, LK Bennett and Bosindeng, was singled out as a leading example of sustainable logistics. The contract with Regent Street landlords, The Crown Estate, has grown and developed since it was awarded in 2009 and has included the introduction of electric vehicles in 2011. Stock is delivered to Clipper’s Retail Consolidation Centre in Enfield, and then collated for delivery to multiple stores in one journey.
Tony Mannix, Managing Director of Clipper, said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised in this way. By making consolidated deliveries to a number of Regent Street stores, we’re able to make claim to a truly green initiative. We have recorded 80% reduction in vehicle movements for participating retailers, whilst maintaining excellent service levels and freeing up sales space. Our electric vehicles are quieter and produce zero emissions, making the shopping experience better for high street customers.”
The award has further cemented Clipper’s position as a leader in fashion and retail logistics.
